The Act of 12 March 1783

The Act of 12 March 1783 established the Depreciation Lands. The approximate current boundary of Cranberry Township is shown in red.

"Beginning where the western boundary of this state crosses the Ohio River, thence up said river to Fort Pitt; thence up the Allegheny River to the mouth of the Mogulbughtition (now Mahoning) Creek; thence by a west line to the western boundary of this State; thence south by the said boundary to the place of beginning."

The Depreciation Lands were the lower half of the Purchase of 1784.
